Yes you can get home owners insurance in Paradise, California! No, it is not an exorbitant price.

Originally after the Camp Fire, home owners were forced to purchase the "FAIR" plan (Fair Access to Insurance Requirements).
This was used to secure fire coverage in addition to a standard home owners insurance policy which covered liability, water damage, theft, etc.
There were two seperate insurance policies with two seperate payments and high deductables.
Now, however, we are able to secure single insurance policies that are less expensive with reasonable deductables.

Ballpark average home owners insurance premium for a new home in the middle of Paradise, CA that is over 1600 sq ft...
has been roughly $3000 PER YEAR. which is around $250- monthly added to your mortgage payment.
Most of us have insurance and taxes added into our mortgage payment right?

Our local lenders have been estimating higher insurance premiums when calculating monthly payments for our buyers.
Our number one priority is to assure a comfortable monthly payment when we are searching for homes.
Usually the insurance quotes come back lower than those lender estimates and we have happy new home buyers!
Fortunately, I have a few insurance agents to call for quotes while out showing homes, and quotes are readily available.

Homes that are on the canyon edge are a higher fire risk and will have higher insurance rates. These are usually larger custom homes with those million dollar views
and naturally those larger homes will have higher insurance premiums anyways.

Side note:
Since I mentioned taxes, Butte county property taxes are around 1% of assessed property value. (ButteCounty.net)
